How many hours on a excavator is too many?

A high quality, well-maintained mini excavator (aka, compact excavator) has a maximum lifespan of about 10,000 hours. Heavy use and poor maintenance can quickly reduce that to about 8,000 hours
Looking at getting a 200 class machine and wondering at what point do they normally start letting you do? I know it would depend on how it was used and what it was doing. Didnt know if there was a general guideline of what might be too many hours? 7000?8000?10000? Besides play in wear areas what else should a guy look at? thanks
I'd really go by condition then hours. Especially in any type of construction equipment. Look at all the pins and hoses. And run the boom and look for slop in them. And the operate it and turn both ways pretty aggressive and make sure it holds the tracks and go by track condition and undercarriage. Look to see how well everything was greased will also give u an idea how well it was taken care of.
I think the 'sweet spot' for value on an excavator is somewhere in the 2000-3000 hour area, and then the 6-8000 hour area. Over 10000 can still be a good machine, but could be close to a 15k engine or pump, plus most 10k on up machines I see the u/c is getting weak.

I have had cat, case, and komatsu. Seemed like komatsu had the most snot and are very reliable.

Final drives and turntables, and hydraulic responce are spots to check if you don't know excavators, besides the obvious stuff.
